Notables

  • • Notables Notable ONE – Hey Slammers you CANNOT use the TC match option UNLESS you are in a TC match!
  • Notable TWO – Congratulations to Seeker!, He still qualified as a rookie this season on the Tour, and today was his tenth rookie event. Therefore he won a free entry to the Ottawa Sun Scramble. Have you all been to this page: http://www.slammertour.com/slammertour-milestones.shtml Go and see that Seeker, is our 23rd rookie to win a free entry this year.
  • Notable THREE – The lead group started off very fast and got even faster. They were so fast they passed and took off before the first group and were never seen again. Great pace, but then again for a group that collectively have 1328 events played – I guess that they have learned. Thank you SRR, K, BC & T-B.
  • Notable FOUR – I am willing to bet that BearCat (new #16) will have many friends this next week.
  • Notable SIX – do you all know about the white stakes that we call ‘out of bound stakes’? Can you remove one to make your shot? What about if your ball is resting up against one? I encourage much discussion about such things, that way we can all learn. Yesterday for instance, one of our foursome was using hybrid tees (rotating between reds and whites). He played a hole from the wrong tee, and we only realized it at the next tee box. We were uncertain so we made a claim – go see the answer on the rulings page at http://slammertour.com/slammertour-decisions.shtml Let me close with this question. When we play a course that has three nines – lets say west / east. The holes are numbered 1-9, and 1-9. Are we certain that everybody playing hybrids counts the back nine as 10-18?
  • MILESTONE alert – Kricket became only the 11th Slammer to record his 500th career loss. He did it today on the 18th hole. To whom? Well he won the fifteenth hole against both Stevie Ray and BearCat. Then the three of them went AS on the closing three holes. You may have to go all the way back to the 12th hole to figure out which opponent handed him that milestone. After 12, he was AS with Stevie Ray and down one to BearCat.
  • Speaking about milestones – Dracula had a good day at the office today. He won his 500th career bone. This vaulted him all the way from 47th to 41st on the all-time bones list.
  • The third milestone goes to BigGuy, this season’s first D player to record 100 points.
  • THANK you to J$ for doing his first ever Culligan Water doggie duties (at least that I witnessed). Irons did do his first ever REALfans skinsmastering and report. It contained a little bit of some things that he borrowed from some of his favourite SkinsMasters, but also very much uniqueness – we look forward to your next one.
  • Fourth Star - Kookie was the real star - but as a result, J$ was granted the title due to the fact that he requested cookies. That used to be Pizzaman's job.

Quotables

  • “Who is John Galt?” “I love John Galt … DT!”
  • “I drink outside the Slammer Tour you know.” “In fact he is a Scratch drinker!”
  • After placing his drive off the first tee. “That will be the best drive, of the field, on the second hole!”
  • “Sorry guys, I am always late at Prescott.” “NO! You are always late when Mulder isn’t your chauffeur.”
  • Kookie was the real star - but as a result, J$ was granted the title due to the fact that he requested cookies. That used to be Pizzaman's job.
  • “I gave you guys a gift by missing that two footer.”
  • “There’s a sound that you only hear from a prison shower.”
  • “My driver is broken!” “What’s wrong with it?” “I think that the end that you hang on to, doesn’t work.”
  • “Where’s Helen?” “Hear what they called you?” “No offence, they are only Slammers!”
  • “What! Are we waiting for the late guy AGAIN?”
  • “By the way Seeker, that lady that brings cookies to Prescott isn’t part of the courses’ staff. You don’t hand in the cart keys to her. She may drive it home.”
  • “Hey J$ what did you shoot?” “Don’t worry about it! If you really want to know check the website.”
  • “I baked some cookies.”
  • and … “I will save you some time - no more skins!”
  • last one - "Did you call me a liar?" :NO! I said that you are wrong." "Call me a liar instead."

Summary
I always try to warn my Slammer Family. The weather and conditions are always greatest down south of the city. Had a bit of concern after church in cardinal, and on my way to the course, I saw no flag on sixteen. Arrived at the course a little relieved, seeing the flags on 17, 1, and 18. I went into the clubhouse and spoke with Bill & Thom, and was just about to leave to look for it when the first member of the day arrived and mentioned that he found it in a bunker and all is well. Twenty Slammers all arrived for this awesome fall day (well OK there were 19 of us there {read below}). They were welcomed by our own WillyWonka, wearing no black and gold (Steelers still won!). He brought a sample pack of their seasonal ginger chocolates. A couple of Slammers were disciplined and chose to opt out. There was no problem finding willing playing partners to sacrifice themselves – Thank you Purdy Crazy!

Stars
Steel Crazy
He wasn’t the first star because of his purple box, with the purple ribbon. He wasn’t chosen as first star because of his whining this month. Steel Crazy has already played two different #1s this month – and lost to neither – but wasn’t able to advance. Today this undefeated B classer has moved to #14 B in a very competitive division. He won half the birds, a third of the skins and is even liked by some Slammers. He defeated Switch, SunShine and then the upset of JMoney. 38-35 to go 5-4.
T-bird
The teacher is out on strike – so you B classers beware – he is coming to compete. Today he went 3-0, making the stars 6-0, so far. He doesn’t look quite as good as the 1962 model, nor the blonde driving it in American Graffiti, but on the course today he shone. He arrived standing on the 119th step on the ladder. After the 16th hole he shook hands with BearCat and moved up 34 steps. Next hole he rose another 35 rungs by shaking hands with Kricket. Then finally he took down Stevie Ray to climb another 35. Number six in the B race for #1.
Big Guy
3-0 times three for a collective 9-0! He came to Prescott, after cheering his REDBLACKS to their first place finish, driving Susan to the airport, and then to defend his #1D ranking. Three opponents all prepared to take it away. Well Big Guy is a step closer to taking next Saturday off as the #1 – when the semi-finals happen. Three pars and seven bogeys were enough to register a C score and shake hands with opposition every second hole starting with Seeker on 12, Zoey after 14, and Grumpy two later – as we watched the RIDE program keep Prescott safe.
