Notables

  • Pickle defeats T-Bird to advance to the final four of the TC A division. Next opponent for you is Doog. Yes Pickle's scoring median is 76. Yes 76 is an Open division median (everything below 78). However he is in the Final Four and the rule 15 clearly states that he needs to be three points below the line to be precluded. Nobody gets precluded once we are down to the Final Four!
  • Rare foursome ... with a junior, an adult, a senior, and a super senior.
  • QUICK SNAP doggie report. Thank you to Mulder for stepping in and handling the doggie duties. No scoop nor plastic bag was needed (well actually he does use a baggie BUT not for the same reason as when he takes Jynx for a walk).
  • Staying with the QUICK SNAP doggies, YipMeister & PinShark stayed on their hot pace of one dog per event this season.
  • Welcome to today's winner of the longest drive. I know that we don't have a contest BUT Rulz did drive in from Toronto.
  • Trivia question to all of you that played T4 today. Eighth tee block - where did you hit from?
  • Apparently it is okay to not give a fiver when you lose a match. Some Slammers will accept other items of value. New or used? Wink, wink, wink!!!
  • DO NOT despair. The live scoring is still not yet at 100%, but we get closer and closer to ironing out all of the glitches. Many commented at the beginning that it wasn't live - but by the time we all sat down at 19, it had all 360 holes entered and was used for the skins report.
  • The Broker4Tickets skin bones were handed out. Ten each to eight Slammers. All were birdies and six other birdies were cut off. 13/18 holes were birdied today!
  • T-Bird was introduced as being the 42nd Slammer to win 600 bones (last event). However with today's losses he is below that line again.
  • Seven Slammers were introduced and congratulated for making it into the Ottawa Sun Scramble championship weekend last week. They were HaleStorm, IronMaiden, Nivlac, Popeye, YoungGun, and A division champion F6Noob & Open champ Pickle.
  • MILESTONE watchers. There were five players closing in on one today - they all fell short.

Quotables

  • "Mulder have you had plastic surgery?" (see his profile page)
  • "This Slammer is the ONLY one to beat McGoop three times."
  • "Playing in her 781st event!"
  • "You know the McGees? You are Mulder's neighbour? You are a club EG member? What took you so long? Welcome to the Tour VuDoo!"
  • "Hey Dad, what's with Nivlac? He is up three after three!"
  • "Hey YoungGun are you coming up to the 19th?" "Yes!" (editor's question - why did they sit at a table for three?)
  • "Please welcome the SlammerTour future. These are kids of the Tour." "Are they the kids that we give our .50 to?"
  • "You loser!"

Summary
My comment on the event's registration page was "I have never stepped on this property". In fact, being a guy who brags a lot about knowing the city and never using a GPS, I have only driven by the parking lot and never noticed any of the course in the area. I have even driven to one of the houses as one of my best friends lives in the neighbourhood. Her husband joins us to Slam BUT only when we play his club (Canadian) in the challenge. My foursome all chose to walk - with little knowledge of the course. I was a little worried when member F6Noob predicted a long round because of the walks from green to tees and due to the many elevation changes. Who even knew that there were Hills in Kanata? I walked into the clubhouse, was welcomed, and instructed where things were. Told that Al is the starter and we hit it off. We played the 9, walked past a wedding as we made the turn, which was over by the time that we stepped off 18. Great nineteenth hole on the upper deck patio. It was great sharing the stage with three kids that don't add up to my age, and being with much older guys like Sutty & Potter. If you havent played here - come on out! Not so easy for first timers, But fellow D classer Zoey had a C score. GovNer4 said the PRICE was right, Skeeter was the only one to miss the festivities and Panda had many people making suggestions for a name change!

Stars
Nivlac
Score doesn't matter! But when you shoot the best score of your Slammer career, this OC just might mention that you did so with 4 birds, nine pars, four bogeys. The two over par came on hole five. It was his 20th career multiple birdie event but his first with FOUR! Shooting such darts today, he never had to yell FORE! Today was the 12th time that he played under 80 (degree weather), and half of those was when it was 79 outside. He took down PinShark (5and3) in their inaugural event. He then also shook hands with T-bird (4and3) on the same hole, for his first win over the famous car. THE match that the foursome's oldest player came for was against the gherkin (who has been playing more like a STRAUB). Actually check the fifth quotable (text). Nivlac beat the Pickle 3and1. It was his second career victory (both on hole 17) against three losses. THREE and OH! Congrats backwards Calvin!
YoungGun
He had never played any of these old Pistols before. He showed no mercy and went on to earn a 3-0 record. All three of his matches were done by the thirteenth. He moved up 50 rungs on the Slammer ladder. He started the day as C24, and moved so much closer to the top, with his upset of C6 Sutty. Today was his 21st Slammer event, but only the second time that he had to cage two birdies at the same event. However like last time neither held up for a skin. Maybe this junior will play in more skins games. Dad? By the way the Gun never even got embarrassed when Dad was firing off about the third star! Hey BP - none of the old guys accused you of using your course knowledge and steering them wrong.
HaleStorm
This is the third of our Slammer Tour youth movement to be mentioned already here today. Another of the 'kids' that started off at a more forward tee box. She is currently at T5. Also before the round - she asked to be moved from B division to the A (how soon until she also moves to the Open?). Today she took down her Ottawa Sun Scramble partner, Iron Maiden 4and3. On the same hole when she also bettered Rulz, she jumped from 174th overall ranking to 20. That upset earned her the third star. Much to YoungGun's dad's (pea shooter) chagrin. He whined (did anybody see him pay the pot?) because they had a draw. Well F6, her birdie skin on 18 earned her that tie.
