Notables

  • PoP stands for Pace of Play. I have a certain record of moving fairly fast, some may even say TOO FAST. Well today, I had to wait a lot. So lets all be respectful out there and BE AWARE of others as we go thru 18 holes {or 36) of our favourite activity. Today on the course, I was talking to a particular group, and they ‘made excuses’. Although I agreed with some of what was said, I watched carefully and often saw nobody in the group addressing a golf ball, when there was an open hole ahead. PLEASE BE AWARE!
  • Notable #1… Thank you to Malone for allowing me to tag team with the Maiden. She not only did the OCing for the first event – but also doggie duty for the second. {not to mention – the skins auditing}
  • Notable #2… Thank you Kids Club, who is definitely one of my mentors as an OC. I saw him provide water to an event a year ago.
  • Notable #3… Thank you Chef {see the third star notes} for being so accommodating and doing all of the work to get Grumpy many “thank you”s from the parched Slammers.
  • Notable #4… Thank you Inch. He picked up the OC, with a cup of coffee, and gave him a cigar at the golf course. Now I will be audited about my choice for second star.
  • Notable #5… Thank you Stevie Ray, for bailing me out and printing my OC sheets.
  • Notable #6… Thank you Cash as a double header skins mistress.
  • Notable #7… A final thank you to our commish / asst commish for feeding us lunch today.
  • Notable #8… Hey Inch and Gator, did you see that hamburger?
  • Notable #9… Iron Maiden , showing the new “Eddy the Head” balls won five doggies. Then there was much spoken. What has happened? Six events without the 26th. She hadn’t gone 4 straight events this season without a doggie.
  • Notable #10… UnSlammer like – there were many carts out there today. High Five walked 36!
  • Notable #11… In the second event, I played in a threesome, all walkers, well Potter and Austin totalled 141 years old.
  • Notable #12… All reports of Gator getting two eagles were an exageration - there were in fact NO eagles in either event. You had to be there, and hopefully all know the seriousness of filling out the group sheets and signing it afterwards.
  • Notable #13... I would love to share the story in Thursday’s newspaper about humidex. It must have had something to do with the lack of quotables. Was nobody talking out there?

Quotables

  • "IT'S HOT!"
  • "At what time do we tee off and play 54?"
Event: Sand Point
Wed Jun 20, 2012
Summary
Double header two. New this season is a regular serving of 36 holers. Some are back to back on the same course, as today was. See the two at Prescott later this month and see that the second event comes with a car ride to a neighbour course. Today marked the fourth year in succession that the Tour celebrates Summer Solstice with a 36 hole event. Grumpy is predicting the 54 hole {check High Five’s quotable}event – can you say solstice 2013? Do you appreciate the Tour? Look at the first seven notables and see what is all done to make these events happen.

Stars
Lethal (r)
Tweaked {who would have caught the error of 'tweeked'?} the back a bit in the first event. Took some drugs, and there will be urine tests later. Then went out to earn a 3-0 record. Who did he beat? Well how about #6 Davestator, and #31 Iron Maiden. He did it to both of them on the 11th. Almost cost Bulldog two packs of TOILET PAPER. He also beat No Cents who is no slouch. Lethal parred 18 to the penniless bogey. His doggie on #8 was a three footer.
Inch
Welcome to match play, a very good challenge day for Inch. His double header was good for three upsets, boosted him 113 spots in the rankings and a 5-0 record. Although the first event's upsets were vs "D" classers, his upset over Chill to jump into the top 30, was against a similar qualified golfer with a MUCH BETTER winning pct.
Chef
He got the text. he put the cooler in the car. He stopped to pick up a case of water. He added ice. Then he arrived and went 3-0. Upset #3 Malone on 17 to advance two rungs on the ladder. Along the way his only birdie was cut off. No ching ching today to catch Kadaver but the six points moves him ahead of pointZero into third place for the Bud Light race.
