Notables

  • notable ONE ... TC match today. Ottawa Sun Scramble partners went at it - after playing together for 36 holes on Tuesday and Saturday. The Game took care of BearCat often and early - see the first star to your right.
  • notable TWO ... I have a prize for you if you can name the 19 Slammers that are mentioned in the summary at the top right. The prize grows if you can also name the 11 Slammers that worked the event yesterday.
  • notable THREE ... Smitty is halfway between his jacket {200th event) and his umbrella (300th), and becomes the 17th Slammer to play in his 250th career event.
  • notable FOUR ... Chef’s ninth loss to Woodsy {and 5th in a row}, is a Milestone loss. It is his 100th career loss {and yes against 610 wins}. He is the 64th Slammer to lose that many [yes we know somebody losing that many a year}
  • notable FIVE ... GoTee has three observations and we can’t even charge him for whining. All this and he is still second star. He had a chilly dip. He counted a stroke penalty against himself when his ball moved {I don’t think that is a penalty in golf anymore – something to talk about on the nineteenth}, and his ball on hole nine was snatched up by a kid in a cart.
  • notable SIX... After the X-Tour defaults get removed from the event – there were more upsets {14} than there were successes {13} today. If the results stand – then the successes would win 16-14. What a day with good scoring all over. Thirteen of those in attendance beat their scoring median. Of the six that didn’t, they only did so by a combined 13 strokes. Another thing is that #10 & #14 were both upset twice so look at a new TOP TWENTY tomorrow
  • notable SEVEN ... thank you to Pukey J our Doggy Master. He collected the Culligan bones and distributed them to Flyer (#3), Pele (#5 - she had to pick up the ball from a guy named Terry that drove with her to the event), Pearls (#9 - ... she had to pick up the ball from a guy named Terry that drove with her to the event), and Turtle (#14)
  • notable EIGHT ... Turtle forgot to mark his doggy ball on #10? They decided it was too far anyways, so they moved on to the eleventh. Guess what – it was missed, and those puppies were never dished out.
  • notable NINE ... Congratulations to a pair of Slammers that graduated today. Both Turtle and Number 7, played a B score and moved into that division. We all know how hard it is to stay once you advance, but they are both looking very B like recently.
  • notable TEN ... Julie Clairmont is no longer. For a while she was going to be called Mrs T. Especially when she won her first doggy on #5. The ball that was on the tee said T-Bone and she just added Mrs in front of it. This basketball playing soccer chick was threatened with all kinds of nicknames {BUT only after she had shaken hands with all opposition}, and finally we have one. Say hello to Pele. Looks like T-Bone has his own 10!
  • notable ELEVEN ... thank you Cuba for a very busy afternoon of tabulating the Dynamic Physio & Chiro skins. Calculating that 8 birds were cut off, no pars won a skin and we still had nine to get 8 bones each. The kids also won 8 bones for no skins.

Quotables

  • "I enjoyed your company too much. I want to do it again."
  • "We will have a nickname for you by the end of this round."
  • third quotable went out after Flyer was introduced on the first tee. "He has been the first star in his last four events {thank you Bookie!}, will it be five in a row?" "NO!" was a quick reply.
  • still on the first tee with introductions. it is announced that The Game is playing in a TC match and his last two victims are in this group. His opponent states "The buck stops here!" Well one right prediction and one wrong.
  • and then from Pukey J upon realizing that X-Tour had bailed "Can I have his ranking?" "Sure, but 91 is his scoring median, your rank is already 33 higher."
  • "We have a BurrHead on the Tour, and now we have a BurrAss."
  • "I'm sorry God!"
  • "Is that Mrs T-Bone? Ah ha! That's why he is so quiet, when she is around."
  • "Someone stole my ball and it was a doggie ball on #9."
  • "I can get it up now."
  • "What kind of a sh*t kicking was that?"
  • “Who else thinks that he sounds like Dennis Hopper?”
  • "The first skin today goes to Spud" "Is that a potato skin?"

Summary
Ottawa Sun Scramble championship Sunday means that the Slammer Tour is playing event #148 of this season. Today we come out and play a course that understands their clientele. They may have to build a tiered parking lot though. With the split tees going at it throughout the morning and the best buffet in the region it is hard for the Slammers to find a parking spot. They persevere and except for a Cuban bit of tardiness, all goes off without a Hitch. Well there were a lot of other Slammers missing as well. We know that 19 of them were all busy playing at Eagle Creek {congrats to Tooth Fairy and chill ... see the Ottawa Sun on Monday} for their respective city championships.

Stars
The Game
The Game went undefeated today. His first win was over BearCat to advance to the FINAL FOUR of the C division TC. He will play his twin brother ShortStack {new name about to be unveiled?}. He shook the Cat's hand after twelve and allowed the Steak to play two more holes before that upset. His final win was an upset over Number 7. He had already beaten both of them to get to this round of the TC. beware ShortStack, he has Game. Oh Yeah, by the way - he collected two skins for his three birdies.
GoTee (r)
Another no doggy event. Third in a row. This NoTee / no driver phenom continues his mastery and now he is doing it by playing a set of blocks back of his opponents. Today he defended against that Quebec teacher who has to go back to work, next week. Yes he shook T-Bird's hand on the sixteenth. Next hole his bogey was enough to beat Turtle and hold him off on the 18th. The big match of the day was his upset over previously 14 ranked Flyer. He did so 5 and 3. 33 step raise on the ladder! By the way - check out his notable to the left.
Pipeline
The Power ranking group #2 of the day was our first group. Four players all pretty equally matched, with all having a median between 82-85. The highest median of the group belonged to Pipeline. Well today he went undefeated with a 2-0-1 record. The same as the guy he tied - Cuba. I wasn't sure who would get the nod - but decided on Pipeline because he moved back a set of tees and had a skin. OH YEAH, and the other guy was late getting to the teebox. Smitty was ranked #10 before the day but bowed to both of them. Spud was the other victim.
