 Notables - NOTABLE: Only 2 birds on the course today and both on #13 - Bookie first hits his second shot to within 5 feet of the pin and then IronMaiden matches the shot...or so it appeared. As we approach the hole we see that IronMaiden's ball is half hanging over the hole but did not fall in for the eagle. Bookie, of course, sinks the birdie putt to cut her off!
- NOTABLE: There was a swarm of tiny black flies that followed us, surrounded us, annoyed us ALL day!
- DOGGIES: Group one was not in a sharing mood...Hole #3 was hit by Rexall but a little 3 putt got in the way - Hole #8: Rexall redeemed himself taking a 16'10" doggie - Hole #10: IronMaiden, 7'11" - Hole #12: GoTee crosses the pond and leaves his doggie 21' short of the pin...enough to stay hidden from sight below the reeds - Hole #16: IronMaiden, 33' - Each doggie paid out 8 bones
- SKINS: All the skins were earned in the first seven holes with two for Spitz (pars #3 & #4) and one each to IronMaiden (Bogey #1), Bookie (par #2) and GoTee (par #7) @ 7 bones a piece

Summary
The weather was a little ominous with an overcast hazy grey sky that looked as if a storm would come through at any moment, but the forecast showed no rain between eleven and five so it looked as though the Slammers would get away with another one......and we did! And Rexall took the very important seventh spot in the event today giving us an official skins day so how could anything go wrong? Well, absolutely nothing could. With small groups comes big freedom so with one email and a phone call to the proshop, all seven Slammers agreed to move up the tee time by a half hour to get through the round before the forecasted end of day iffy weather. A tourney that was set off ahead of the Slammers slowed us but we still got through our round without a drop of rain and even as we finalized our day on the patio the weather held. A great day at Club de Golf Gatineau...always better than a day at the office!

Always difficult for an OC to name oneself as the first star let alone describe the accomplishment, so I'll just stick to the facts. Plus, Rexall threatened a coup if I didn't so here goes....IronMaiden goes 3-0 (100th win of 2013) for 6 points defending against Rexall and recording the upsets over GoTee and Bookie. One birdie, a bogey skin and a double doggie day. Bye-bye back pain! |

GoTee is in his rookie season but this newbie plays like he's always been a part of the Tour. Certainly a candidate for this year's Ottawa Sun Rookie of the year, GoTee held his own today from the Blue tees as he takes on two Super Seniors and a Slammette coming out with the upset win over Bookie for his 25th rank and defending against Rexall going all square. GoTee is the current Culligan Doggie leader and today's puppy (his 23rd to date)now gives him a 6 dog lead...keep it going! A par skin on the 7th hole (with an impossible pin placement) tops off another great round. GO GoTEE!! |

Another rookie who will certainly get a nomination for this year's Rookie award and Ace always steps forward to help with the event duties. Today's Doggie master came prepared bringing a measuring tape to record the exact doggie distances. Ace adds four points to his stats with the defence win over Spitz and takes Small Pak's rank to move a little closer to the top of the Slammer totem pole. Well done! |
