Notables

  • No TC match in this second half of the Slammer Tour’s 24th all-time double header {for those of you keeping track at home – this is already the ninth in 2014}.
  • The rare "lift, rake, and replace" feature was used for this 2nd event as we realized how unplayable the bunkers were.
  • Big Guy gets a hole in one and then at his next event he has his own camera crew following him. Bonne Fete – yes today Big Guy turns 67.
  • Lunch on the Commish – is quickly becoming a big theme, this season. This weekend there were fifteen that had lunch on Saturday, followed by thirteen on Sunday. Yes – there were Slammers that had two lunches.
  • Duke’s best shot on the par three, fourth hole, was his 4th shot, and the ball wasn’t even on the ground. It was lodged on a tree stump. By the way to prove that it was no fluke – he had to shoot off of another tree later on (hole 18).
  • For all of you users of scopes to judge your distances on the golf course. Please BE WARNED, that if you are accustomed to imperial measure – do NOT try and play a round using metric, you will find your club selection to be off ALL DAY!
  • In case you missed it – Sunny has a great limerick on his summary page from our morning event – go see it.
  • Today Iron Maiden, takes over the doggie lead, with her doggie on hole 12. That doggie allows me to announce that her one yesterday was her 125th of her career {and only five others have that many} , thus enabling me to say … MILESTONE ALERT - ShortStack won his 100th match over at Falcon Ridge today. Smitty lost 250th yesterday at Lombard. I am writing this because OC’s don’t like to write about themselves. Ozone collected his 25th skin & 50th birdie, Intruder his 200th point, Rulz tied Pukey J for his 100th career draw.

Quotables

  • “Since Grumpy told you guys to use common sense out there, try to help out GoTee.”
  • “I was going to ask the jerk to move his shadow. Then I realized it was mine.”
  • “I’m tired! I’m tired of the puddles. I’m tired of looking for my balls.”
  • “I ran out of fingers, trying to count AngryBird’s score.”
  • The last quotable today, will be me plagiarizing from the Casselview event, Mon Jul 2, 2012, IM's RULE of the DAY: Rule 13-2. Improving Lie, Area of Intended Stance or Swing, or Line of Play: One of the fundamental principles of golf is that the ball must be played as it lies. You must not improve the lie of your ball or the area around your stance or swing. Examples of actions that are prohibited include pressing a club on the ground behind the ball, or bending or breaking branches that might be in the way of your swing or stance…or even removing living, growing grass. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: Match play — Loss of hole

Summary
When finding out that the course was not allowing carts out on the west today, the Executive Decision – therefore we will play south twice. HOLD ON, Small Pak has connections, and we DO move to the west – complete with carts. It was wetter than the south, and some of the greens were in ‘bad winter’ shape, but we didn’t seem to share the course with anybody else. That group that we would have followed on the south course ARE STILL out there, but they have made the turn now.

Stars
BearCat
BearCat went 3-0, and IF you saw him play in the morning, you wouldn’t believe that he would warrant consideration. His first victim was AngryBird who was undefeated against the Bear, including a win earlier today. They shook hands after the thirteenth. One hole later and upset number two, vaulted BC, 35 steps up the rankings ladder. It was against PizzaMan, (prior to today their career record was 18-2 for PM). Next hole, was when he shook hands with Sssssnake, in their inaugural match.
Mother
WELCOME BACK Mother! She was another 3-0 Slammer today. She entered today’s first event ranked 374. Her wins happened on hole fifteen {over Big Guy in their first match}, sixteen {upsetting Skeeter – to move onto the 75th step}, and then on seventeen to even her career against The TinMan. Come out and see us again sometime. Don’t make us all travel to visit you.
Popeye
Look at Sunny’s report from this morning, and see who the first star was. Well Popeye ate MORE spinach, and treated GoTee and FlagonDry like rented mules. Gru was his third opponent this time. Maybe the reason that he needed all of that spinach, was to carry all those bones home.
