Notables

  • TC UPDATE - ShortStack - see first star - advances to ELITE EIGHT over Shorts in the B division.
  • NOTABLE - T-Bird has never missed a putt during his whole career when he was lying seven.
  • NOTABLE - the first three groups had played a total of 24 matches together, then in group four one guy had 118 losses (amended to 121) vs his opponents.
  • NOTABLE - the Tour is full of so many good sports. This was no more evident than during the audience participation closing reports.
  • THANK YOU - Mulder and Iron Maiden were at it again. There was a job to be done and these two never shy away from it. Maiden got her puter out and let the rookie Broker4Tickets Skins Master use it to start making entries. P-Bomb thank you for stepping up and as you can tell from the audience appreciation - I am NOT the only one to thank you for doing a bang-up job on your first report ... but we may have to warn our friends SteelCrazy and Pommie about your wording when discussing 'it got cut off by ...' (see quotable).
  • Mulder did the QuickSnap doggy report and was quick and snappy until he mentioned how great HIS DOG was!
  • NOTABLE - good to see the return of Inch, playing only his third event of the season. His compression fracture of the spine was a result of hitting a bump while driving a golf cart - BE careful ALL!
  • LAST NOTABLE - SuperSy gets introduced as having the highest SM in his group - but the others are warned - his last seven events (His July) had all scores above the median line - B class is calling! Well maybe NOT immediately after braving the tough Brockville.

Quotables

  • “Away at races in Watkins Glen so will miss Slammer event. But come on down! Grumpy (BCC member for a day) will look after you.” Mulder says, “Potter you are a true BCC ambassador. :-) We'll miss you but have a great time at the races!!” “SPEAK FOR YOURSELF!”
  • “Potter, what do you think, it's your birthday? OH yeah it is DMac's... Send him HB from ST! Speaking of which Happy birthday SUTTY! Aug 3 for DMac and Sutty, but a few years apart.
  • “Mulder - where is your GEEK friend? You two wanna tag-team me again this weekend? :)”
  • “I’m just healing from a compression fracture in my spine. I will see how it feels come Saturday night.” “Hey Brother Inch – come play – that is when I have a chance (1-8 career) against you – remember you had to leave after nine and I finally got to beat you on 14?”
  • “two yrs, I have not challenged anyone so I am sure these boys (Steel Crazy / Old Spice) will lay the lumber on me. Time to try and make a move!”
  • "Hey Old Spice, you remind me of my old man!"
  • "The soda machine had better legs than that cart girl! (what a good sport he was!)."
  • "That wasically wabbit!" "DOH! I hate wabbits."
  • "My putter works much better since Mulder drove over it."
  • Group 2 with the TC match were a quiet bumnch!
  • Supersy said "I five putted one green!"
  • "SCAB!"
  • "Sawed off!"
  • This last quote from Roberto, ""What a stupid I am!""

Summary
It is a rarity! We are at Brockville and something is missing. Maybe I should say Someone is missing. That's right - it is Watkins Glen weekend in Nascar, and there is no Potter. We arrive in the parking lot and what do we see? There is club Pro D-Mac giving lessons. I have been here many times and thought that he saved his lessons for the annual Brockville challenge (8-2 career). Another usual sighting was that of starter Ryan, but today he was doing something new (that's what he says - but I think it is only because Potter isn't here), everybody got a bright pink bag tag to affix. Much to the chagrin of BCC I call this a tough course. It is not for the faint of heart, as it is seldom beaten. I take my hat off to all Slammers that come play this great track, without worrying about their scoring median. Those that care more for a place with great vistas (walk up to 17 and stop and look back!), and some tricky shot making, than 'all about me". Has Roberto deVincenzo ever been more in the news? It was only a $20K purse! see last quote...

Stars
ShortStack
Congratulations BIG Thunder, on advancing to the ELITE EIGHT of the TC B division. Back to back doubles for both of the Shorts (named Slammers) was enough reason to shake hands after 16. This was their rubber match, as they were at 2-2 prior to today. That dog on the ninth was close (but ask Juice how close she got) and held up for some dog meat. Today was also his rubber match (3 wins apiece) with Irons , and first victory vs Old Spice in their inaugural match.
P-Bomb
The largest move up the ladder today was in our leadoff group. P-Bomb, not only went three and OH!, But all three were ranked higher therefore he had three upsets. The first victim was SuperSy, thus jumping up 58 steps. Next was SCrazy to elevate the next 25 rungs. Third to fall was IronMaiden, for him to move ahead 2-1 in their career. Peter returns to the course where his nickname was changed to P-Bomb ... ask him about the horse.
Mulder
One of the very few that beat their scoring median today / along with YoungGun, was the leader with four below.. This 'used to be' D player, ends the day as #4C. today he successfully defended to go 3-0 on the day and his dog on seventeen made the 18th unnecessary. Along the way he added a bird for a skin on hole seven. Remember the hole? The second consecutive horseshoe, needs four perfect shots to accomplish that feat. Mulder is the 12th Slammer this season to reach 100 points.
